Schools In Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne has four public k-12 schools. Northwest Allen County Schools district covers all of Arcola and Huntertown as well as northern parts of Fort Wayne. Southwest Allen County Schools covers both the Aboite and Lafayette Township areas. East Allen County Schools covers the Harding, Heritage, Leo, New Haven, and Woodlan areas. Fort Wayne Community Schools is the second largest school in Indiana and covers around 3% of the state's k-12 student population.

The city also has many private schooling options to choose from, some of the most popular private schools are Canterbury, Concordia Lutheran, St. Paul's Lutheran, Blackhawk, Zion Lutheran Academy, Trinity Lutheran, St. Peters Lutheran, and Lutheran South Unity.

About Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne is a city in Allen County Indiana. It is the second-largest city in the state. It is well known for it's parks, canal systems, and location on three rivers, the St Marys, the St. Joseph, and the Maumee. The city is also known as one of the best places to live in Indiana, and is the perfect place to buy a home.

History of Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne originally a Fort that was was built in 1794 by General Anthony Wayne and the United States Army. The fort was built at a junction between three rivers, giving Fort Wayne trade access with other settlements such as Toledo Ohio. This river access led to Fort Wayne becoming a major docking point. Fort Wayne became village in 1823, and due to the influx of trade, the population quickly grew in size.
